An event entitled 'Angiogenesis, metabolism and cancer' will take place from 6 to 8 July 2012 in Leuven, Belgium.

The formation, function and remodeling of the vasculature (blood vessels or arrangement of blood vessels in an organ or body part) is closely linked to the metabolic needs of the tissues it serves. Tools to investigate the complexity of molecular, cellular, and metabolic interactions among different tissues in vivo have only recently become available. Accordingly, the fields of angiogenesis, cancer biology, and metabolism have made rapid and exciting progress.

The event will focus on recent medical advances in the understanding of how molecular signaling, cellular dynamics, and metabolic regulation converge during normal development and remodeling. It will also look at how studying angiogenesis regulation, stromal plasticity, and endothelial microenvironment offer unprecedented opportunities for designing new therapeutic strategies. Session topics will include:
- vessel branching;
- vessel abnormalities and metabolism;
- cancer metabolism;
- feedback regulation of angiogenesis;
- stromal plasticity and tumor microenvironmentFor further information, please visit: http://www.cell-symposia-angiogenesis-metabolism-cancer.com/index.html(opens in new window)
