'INSPIRE conference', Istanbul, Turkey
The INSPIRE Directive came into force on 15 May 2007 and will be implemented in various stages, with full implementation required by 2019. It aims to create a European Union (EU) spatial data infrastructure. This will enable the sharing of environmental spatial information among public sector organisations and better facilitate public access to spatial information across Europe.
The directive has led to the creation of the Shared Environmental Information System (SEIS 2008). SEIS will be an integrated, web-enabled, EU-wide environmental information system, simplifying and modernising existing information systems and processes. Its creation has helped to cultivate a new vision for a coordinated framework for the implementation and monitoring of environmental policies.
The conference will bring together experts and stakeholders to look at governance, content, and supporting technologies in order to further shaped the landscape of sharing environmental information. For further information, please visit: http://inspire.jrc.ec.europa.eu/events/conferences/inspire_2012/index.cfm(opens in new window)
