An event entitled 'Translational genomics pipeline: from populations to individuals' will take place from 18 to 21 June 2012 in Cambridge, UK.

The ability to better diagnose, treat, and ultimately cure disease depends on understanding its genetic causes and translating this information into new diagnostic tests and therapeutics.

Translational research provides the data and tools necessary to identify the genes that play a role in hereditable diseases. The field of translational genomics is evolving rapidly and acquired knowledge is already finding practical applications. However, the path leading from basic discovery to clinical applications poses new challenges.

The event will be a forum for discussing the latest key issues and challenges that arise in translating clinical results from genomic research, as well as potential approaches and solutions. Session topics will include:
- introduction to translational genomics: potential, challenges and milestones;
- genomics data- optimising access and use;
- pharmacogenomics;
- from public health genomics to personalised medicine;
- translating genomics into public health- infectious diseases and host genomics.For further information, please visit: http://registration.hinxton.wellcome.ac.uk/display_info.asp?id=278(opens in new window)
