Ninth European Workshop on Biotechnology of Microalgae, Nuthetal, Germany
Typically found in freshwater and marine systems, microalgae are capable of performing photosynthesis. They produce approximately half of the atmospheric oxygen and use simultaneously the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide to grow photoautotrophically.
The biodiversity of microalgae is enormous and they represent an almost untapped resource. In recent years, they have been found to have many commercial and industrial uses, but due to their size and the specific requirements of the environment in which they need to grow, they do not lend themselves as readily to cultivation.
The conference will be a forum for researchers to discussions and exchange information on current research trends and future development. For further information, please visit: http://www.microalgal-biotechnology.com/(opens in new window)
