'CALIPSO, CLOUDSAT, EARTHCARE joint workshop', Paris, France
Clouds exert an enormous influence on the Earth's weather and climate. They are the key element of Earth's hydrological cycle, and influence the exchange of solar and thermal energy within the atmosphere and between the atmosphere, hydrosphere, land surface, biosphere and space. Because of this, even small changes in cloud abundance or distribution could alter the climate more than the anticipated changes in greenhouse gases, anthropogenic aerosols, or other factors associated with global change.
CLOUDSAT, CALIPSO and EARTHCARE are all integral parts of an international effort to generate and magane data related to wide range of climatological issues, such as radiative forcing and feedbacks, cloud and aerosol physics, and hydrological cycle.
The event will assess the status of research on cloud and aerosol profiling using active measurement systems. It will also look at ways that data from such systems can be used to improve human understanding of the roles of clouds and aerosols in the hydro-radiative cycle. For further information, please visit: http://www.congrexprojects.com/12c19(opens in new window)
