The First International Workshop From Modelling to Assistance will take place on 24 September 2012 in Saarbrücken, Germany.

Smart environments are playing an increasing role not only in the research community but also in everyday life. This has led to increasing interest in current research dealing with ways for supporting users in 'smart environments'. Two fundamental challenges have been identified: the recognition of users needs and wishes, and ways for controlling the environment in a way that fulfils the requirements for the user.

The goal of the workshop will be to provide a forum for researchers where current methods for recognising the user intentions and for providing assistance in smart environments can be discussed. The topics on the agenda include:
- reasoning under uncertainty;
- probabilistic modeling and inference;
- causal reasoning;
- model-based reasoning and diagnosis;
- graphical models;
- situation awareness;
- model-based activity recognition;
- model-based intention analysis;
- strategy synthesis;
- proactive assistance in smart environments.For further information, please visit: http://mmis.informatik.uni-rostock.de/m2a/
