The First European Mineralogical Conference will take place from 2 to 6 September 2012 in Frankfurt, Germany.

Mineralogy can be considered as the study of geology at the atomic scale. Rocks in the earth's crust are composed of one or more minerals. A mineral in the geologic sense is a naturally occurring, inorganic, crystalline solid. A particular mineral has a specific chemical composition. Each mineral has its own physical properties such as colour, hardness, and density.

The aim of the conference will be to exchange some of the current research in mineralogy that can be applied to ores and related industrial mineral materials. This includes the fields of mineralogy, crystallography, geochemistry, petrology, environmental geology and advanced analytical techniques.

The event will bring together professionals and practitioners from the academia with objectives to share knowledge and experience in the field of mineralogy. For further information, please visit: http://emc2012.uni-frankfurt.de/index.php?id=4/(opens in new window)
