19th International Conference on Urban Transport and the Environment, Kos, Greece
Like many economic activities that are infrastructure-intensive, the transport sector has a significant impact on development and welfare. However, the issues of transportation and protection of the environment can sometimes be difficult to reconcile. On one side, transportation supports the increasing mobility demands from passengers and freight, ranging from urban areas to international trade. On the other side, developing transport infrastructure can encourage greater car use, leading to congestion. As a result, the transportation sector is becoming increasingly linked to environmental problems.
Innovative systems, new approaches and original ideas can make a difference, but need to be thoroughly tested and critically evaluated before they can be implemented in practice. Moreover, there is a growing need for integration with telecommunications systems and IT applications in order to improve safety, security and efficiency.
This conference will be a forum for attendees from various interdisciplinary group to discuss the latest trends and issues in the field. For further information, please visit: http://www.wessex.ac.uk/13-conferences/urban-transport-2013.html(opens in new window)
