The 10th Quark Confinement and the Hadron Spectrum Conference will take place from 8 to 12 October 2012 in Munich, Germany.
Thirty years ago, physicists found out that protons, neutrons, prions and other interactive particles are made from quarks, antiquarks and gluons, with quarks being the fundamental particles in physics. Due to a phenomenon named color confinement, quarks are never directly observed or found in isolation. They can be found only within baryons or mesons, and much of what is known about them has been drawn from observations on the hadrons themselves. Quark composites are also color neutral. Scientist are working on understanding "why" theys are confined.
The event will bring together scientist interested and working on quantum chromodynamics and strong-interaction dynamics. Session topics will include:
- vacuum structure and confinement;
- light quarks;
- heavy quarks;
- deconfinement;
- QCD and new physics;
- nuclear and astroparticle physics;
