An event entitled 'Joint Congress of ESBB & Spanish National Biobank Network' will take place from 7 to 9 November 2012 in Granada, Spain.
Large collections of samples representing tens or hundreds of thousands of individuals are necessary to conduct studies on the likes of genomics and personalized medicine. Before the advent of biobanks - facilities that store biological samples (usually human) for use in research - many researchers were struggling to acquire sufficient samples. Now, these facilities provide researchers with access to data representing larger numbers of individual people, which can often be used for multiple purposes.
