Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a major obstacle to the treatment of infectious diseases worldwide. In the European Union (EU) alone, the additional burden posed by the limited group of health care-associated bacterial infections, is in the range of 2.5 million hospital days, 25 000 deaths and economic losses on the order of 1.5 billion due to extra healthcare costs and productivity losses.
The symposium will bring together health research scientists and stakeholders involved in the development of anti-microbe strategies and experiences. It will cover various topics related to antimicrobial resistance, (early) microbial and resistance detection, enhancement of innate defences against pathogens, as well as methods and techniques aiming at contributing to better clinical practices.For further information, please visit:
