The 37th International Colloquium on Prevention of Occupational Risks in Agriculture will be held from 28 April to 1 May 2013 in Munich, Germany.

Many people think of farms as peaceful settings. Actually, farming is one of the most dangerous jobs. Farms face many health and safety hazards, including chemicals and pesticides, machinery, tools and equipment that can be dangerous, hazardous areas, such as grain bins, silos and wells, as well as livestock that can spread diseases or cause injuries. We all remember the avian flu that spread worldwide or even the swine flu that left many famers stranded.

Undoubtedly farming has been an essential human activity since prehistory. However a careful assessment of risks posed to health, followed by appropriate control measures is needed to reduce the risks associated with farming.
The colloquium will provide a platform for experts to share their experiences with regard to the challenges of prevention of occupational risks in agriculture. The objective is to explore and present recent achievements and highlight good practices regarding various aspects of prevention in agriculture, including the following topics:
- musculoskeletal diseases in agriculture, forestry and horticulture;
-chemical risks in agriculture;
-education and training on safety at work;
-occupational safety and health in the production of bioenergy.For further information, please visit:
