A course on 'Heat Integration and Biorefineries' (HintBioref) will be held from 27 January to 10 February 2013 in Lisbon, Portugal.

As society seeks alternatives to decrease its dependency on petroleum and fossil fuels, the development of the concept of integrated biorefineries for the production of energy, fuels and chemicals is becoming more and more attractive. To date, this concept has had few applications due to the high cost of feedstock and processing technologies. Biorefineries are therefore mainly regarded as biofuels plants, although ongoing research and development aims to expand their fields of applications.

The course, falling under the Erasmus project 2012-1-PT1-ERA10-12530, aims to support MSc/PhD students or researchers in the field of Process Systems Engineering who want to enhance their skills. It is also valuable for industry professionals wanting to increase their knowledge, as well as other graduates in the fields of engineering specialties or Exact Sciences looking for a process industry approach.For further information, please visit:
