An event entitled 'Plant Genome Evolution 2013' will take place from 8 to 10 September 2013 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Recent technological advancements have substantially expanded our ability to analyze and understand plant genomes and to reduce the gap existing between genotype and phenotype. The fast evolving field of genomics allows scientists to analyze thousands of genes in parallel, to understand the genetic architecture of plant genomes and also to isolate the genes responsible for mutations.

Genome sizes in plants are remarkably diverse. Besides the current understanding of plant genomes, the final aim of genomics remains the understanding of the biological and functional significance of DNA sequence. More importantly, understanding and exploiting evolutionary mechanisms in plant genomes is likely to be key to crop development for food production.

The event will be a forum for researchers to share views on the newest developments and insights into plant genome evolution. For further information, please visit
