'Dielectric 2013', Reading, UK
A dielectric material is a substance that is a poor conductor of electricity, but an efficient supporter of electrostatic field s. Dielectrics constitute an important class of functional materials, which play a critical role in the establishment and evolution of modern electric engineering, electronics, photonics and information technology. Since the first discovery of dielectric materials more than a century ago, continued studies have been carried out in this field. However, many fundamental aspects of dielectrics still remain poorly understood and the importance of dielectrics is often overlooked.
Most important researches on dielectrics have been scattered or immerged into some 'mainstream' disciplines, such as physics, chemistry, electrical engineering and materials science. With the rapid development of electronics, photonics and nanotechnology, there is a strong, renewed interest in dielectrics.
The conference will welcome contributions from physicists, chemists, materials scientists, engineers and technologists. The aim is to encourage cross-over between the main themes. For further information, please visit
