The First International Conference on Desalination using Membrane Technology will take place from 7 to 10 April 2013 in Stiges, Spain.

Water scarcity has become more and more of an issue in Europe and yet so far European have concentrated on increasing the supply of water rather than exploring ways to limit its demand. As a result, Southern Europe in particular is experiencing chronic water scarcity, but parts of the north are also under growing water stress. Climate change will only exacerbate the situation.

As water resources are under pressure, the development of new technologies to produce drinking water is becoming a high priority for international organisations, governments and research agencies. The sustainable development of effective desalination processes can make a major contribution to meeting the demand for drinking water, and membrane desalination seems to be the most promising approach.

The conference will bring researchers and other stakeholder to discuss cutting edge research as well as technological and industrial development in this field. For further information, please visit
