A symposium entitled 'Mitochondria: from Signaling to Disease' will be held from 5 to 7 May 2013 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Early studies of mitochondria focused on their bioenergetic role, but scientist now appreciate the importance of these organelles in a wide range of cellular functions and signalling events. The development of animal models, systems-based approaches and dynamic imaging techniques are proving critical in unravelling the significance and complexity of mitochondrial behaviour.

This symposium will examine mitochondria from a cell biology, mechanistic, and disease perspective. It will bring together biologists from various disciplines, facilitating a wide-ranging discussion of emerging themes in mitochondrial biology.For further information, please visit:
