An event entitled 'SafeTRIP Final Conference' will be held on 25 February 2013 in Paris, France.

The European SafeTRIP (Satellite Applications for Emergency handling, Traffic Alerts, Road Safety and Incident Prevention) project, launched in 2009 and funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme, will host its final conference.

The project, which addresses innovations in satellite positioning systems, focused on two way data communication available anywhere in Europe. This communication comes via a W2A band using GPS/EGNOS/GALILEO positioning as well as S-band two way communications, and is designed to improve safety and mobility for road users.

Satellite communications are of great added value for vulnerable persons, for they offer the potential of full pan-European coverage and, as a consequence, the possibility of a permanent communication link. The project will also provide an integrated system platform that will allow any third party company to develop applications for the road market.

This event will bring together stakeholders interested in learning about this technology. Participants will see a live demo installed in a car and discuss the potential benefits provided by this new technology. For further information, please visit:
