'Micro Perspective for Decentralized Energy Supply', Berlin, Germany
Increasing demographics and economic growth in the emerging and emerged countries has made it certain that the increasing need for energy will not be met in the next decades. In India for example, several power stations of very high capacity need to be constructed in order to meet the growing and projected energy requirements. By their very nature, these large scale power plants are centralized, that is, the power is generated centrally and distributed over very long distances. Even if the resources for such power plants - be it money, fuel, and real estate - suddenly became available, the centralized power option is still not viable for India.
To meet this ever increasing need for energy supply, some solutions have been brought forward. One of them includes Smart Mini-Grids (SMG) or micro grid system envisaged by the global think tank on sustainable development. A micro-grid is an intelligent electricity distribution network, operating at or below 11 KV, where the energy demand is effectively and intelligently managed.
The event will gather various academics and researchers from a variety of disciplines to discuss new perspectives of a comprehensive, socially just and sustainable global energy supply. For further information, please visit:
