First International Conference on Urine Omics (URINOMICS 2013), Caparica, Portugal
For centuries, physicians have attempted to use urine for non-invasive assessment of disease. Its analysis helps with the diagnosis and classification of diseases because of the convenience of its collection in large amounts; however, all of the urinary proteome catalogs currently being generated have limitations in their depth and confidence of identification.
The urinary proteome has been studied with most proteomics technologies, but mass spectrometry-based urinary protein and peptide profiling has emerged as the most suitable solution for clinical application. Proteomics is the study of protein expression in a tissue or biological fluid. Despite the progress in urinary biomarker discovery, the contribution of urinary proteomics to the understanding of the pathophysiology of disease upon analysis of the urinary proteome is still modest mainly because of problems associated to sequence identification of the biomarkers.
The event will be an opportunity for attendees to exchange ideas on the latest research trends in this field. For further information, please visit:
