The First Digital Olfaction Society Convention will be held from 11 to 12 April 2013 in Berlin, Germany.

If olfaction is a topic of interest in several scientific fields, the most important challenge for scientists now consists in converting this knowledge into innovative technology. The likes of hearing, vision, touch are currently an integral part of numerous electronic devices which we use on a daily basis, but digitized smell, which aims to turn any odorous source into a digital media, is not. The future generations of devices are now expected to capture odours, turn them into digital data and be able to transmit them everywhere in the world.

Presented as the most exciting Digital Olfaction and Aroma Demonstrations ever organized, the event Digital Smell Show will present all devices which can capture and transmit odours. 'This is the first time we talk about digital smell and in particular smell in the world of digital and we gather these extraordinary innovations in the same place. This event looks like the first demonstration realized by Graham Bell in 1914 to transmit sound waves. It is a huge step towards an exciting moment for our life,' said the founder of DOS, Pr Marvin EDEAS.

During two days, all those interested in this promising field of research will be able to learn how to digitize, transmit, reproduce and recapture smells, flavours and fragrances thanks to our phones, computers, cars or televisions. For further information, please visit:
