Games have been acknowledged for the role they can play in learning as well as for the development of skills such as socialization, teamwork, leadership, decision making and collaborative learning. Games have been successfully used in three distinct areas: training, formal education and non-formal education. However, the use of game-based learning is still limited. This is due to social concerns, stereotypes about impact of games on education, and a lack of extended evidence on their effective application.
