The brain is a highly sensitive organ that crucially depends on a constant supply of oxygen and nutrients by the blood stream. Already short disturbances in the blood supply may cause irreversible disabilities - or may even be fatal. In Europe, more than 1.2 million people die every year from cerebrovascular diseases such as stroke. This represents a major health challenge for the EU.
The conference will be an international exchange of knowledge and closer collaboration between specialists of cerebrovascular disease: neurologists, neurosurgeons, cardiologists, radiologists, general practitioners as well as other health professionals around the Baltic Sea.
