Fifth International Workshop on Patents and its Relation with R&D and Innovation, Seville, Spain
By providing the owner with the right to prevent others from making, using or selling the invention without permission, patents are a key tool to encourage companies to invest in innovation, research and development. In Europe, these patents can be national - granted by the competent national authorities - or European, granted by the European Patent Office. The EU's new 'patent package', which is laying grounds for the creation of unitary patent protection in Europe, is a great step forward in this regard.
Hosted by the Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (JRC-IPTS, European Commission) the workshop will cover the relations between patents, other intellectual property rights, Research & Development and Innovation (RDI) activities as well as the factors affecting such relations. The programme will focus on the institutional aspects of patent systems, the methodological aspects of collecting and analysing data and the research outputs of patent analysis.For further information, please visit:
