A conference entitled 'Brave New World: Inclusive Growth and Well-being or vested Interests and Lost Generations?' will be held from 4 to 5 September 2013 in Brussels, Belgium.

The relationship between economic growth, wealth, and health is a long long-standing and ongoing debate. One of the issues is whether growth and technological innovation in themselves automatically deliver better health and well-being for all or can they aggravate inequalities of access to health.

The European Public Health Alliance (EPHA) will host its fourth annual conference to discuss issues affecting the European public health arena such as the impact of austerity in public health systems, the importance of increasing the efficiency and sustainability of healthcare systems through enhanced innovation and research, as well as the economic weight of the health sector as an engine for wealth, job creation, investment and growth.

Aiming to address the cycle of health inequalities in Europe, this conference will bring together delegations from national and EU policy makers, European and national agencies, public health networks and academics from across Europe.

EPHA is also using this year's annual conference as an opportunity to launch a new think tank dedicated to addressing the future of European health alongside a featured master class on the topic of challenges for public health civil society. For further information, please visit:
