'PEGNet Conference 2013: How to Shape Environmentally and Socially Sustainable Economies in the Developing World - Global, Regional, and Local Solutions', Copenhagen, Denmark
Economic growth has come largely at the expense of natural resources and the environment. It has not achieved economic and social equality either, which is why the concept of green growth has emerged to make growth compatible with environmental sustainability without neglecting the social dimension. Institutional reform is needed to pursue policies which aim to get prices right, fix markets while assigning property rights and prices to environmental services.
The two-day conference will address cross-sectoral issues and aspects related to the sustainable management of industries such as agriculture, energy and transport; as well as the adoption of sustainable life styles reducing individual ecological footprints, equity concerns, and foster strategies for poverty reduction.
The conference will provide a platform for dialogue and an exchange of ideas between researchers, practitioners and policy-makers. Participants will be offered the opportunity to take part in parallel sessions consisting of debates, round-table discussions and keynote addresses delivered by speakers from academia, economic and social policy. For further information, please visit:
