Buildings are responsible for more than 40% of global energy consumption. The ways in which we light, heat and construct buildings increase carbon emissions. Therefore improving the energy-efficiency of buildings is vital to safeguarding the environment and reducing the negative impacts of climate change.
This year's EU Sustainable Energy Week will illustrate how, since 2005, 58 cities and communities from across Europe found solutions to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and to supply renewable energy from on-site sources. Sessions will include presentations on the results and impact of these projects.
