'A Science Policy Symposium for Freshwater Life' will be held from 29 to 30 January 2014 in Brussels, Belgium. It will focus on the theme 'Water Lives: New scientific horizons for biodiversity and water policy'.
Numerous EU biodiversity and water related policies have been designed to protect freshwater ecosystems and to ensure their sustainable use. However, major challenges still persist in the implementation of these policies.
The event aims to pave the way towards optimum use of water resources within the scope of the EU's 2020 biodiversity strategy and Water Framework Directive. It will bring together policy makers and stakeholders from the water, energy and conservation sectors to discuss recommendations for future policy making and key areas of research.For further information, please visit:
