First International Partnership Meeting on Safeguards
The aim of the meeting is to promote cooperation between the European Union, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Baltic States in the field of nuclear safeguards.
It will bring together Parliamentarians, senior figures both from the governments and industry of the European Union and from the CIS and the Baltic States, to encourage the free exchange of information and views on the opportunities for modernizing or establishing reliable national systems of nuclear materials' accounting and control and export control in the CIS and the Baltic States.
The meeting will also suggest necessary actions by governments or international bodies aimed at strengthening the non-proliferation regime in their territories.
