In the framework of the European Radiation Protection Education and Training Programme (ERPET), the European Commission, DG XII, is organizing a training course on "Off-site emergency response to nuclear accidents" on 26-30 June 1995 in Mol, Belgium.

The training course will provide a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of today's emergency planning and response, i.e. principles of intervention, planning and organization, and decision-making in respect of off-site intervention in the case of an accidental release of radioactive material to the environment.

The course will be of benefit to those involved in contingency planning, e.g. civil and environmental protection officers, and persons responsible for the management of radiation protection or emergency planning at nuclear facilities.

Case-studies, exercises and discussions will familiarize the participants with problems which may arise in implementing the basic principles of intervention following a nuclear accident.
