A conference entitled "International aspects of emergency management and environmental technology" will take place in Oslo, Norway, on 18-21 June 1995. It is organized in the framework of the EUREKA programme, in collaboration with the MEMbrain project and the Norwegian Trade Council.

The objective of the conference is to focus on emergency management and environmental technology in the international community as one way to deal with and reduce the consequences of industrial disasters and natural catastrophes.

The conference topics will include:

- International policy and legislation;
- Emergency management and international cooperation;
- Operational aspects within search and rescue;
- Training and exercise.

The conference will focus on solutions for the following:

- Environmental problems in Eastern Europe;
- Environmental problems and natural disasters in the third world;
- Offshore industry emergency preparedness;
- Emergency management of large public gatherings;
- Nuclear emergency management;
- Insurance and emergency management;
- Environmental monitoring techniques.
