15th International Symposium on Polycyclic Aromatic Compounds (PAC)

The 15th International Symposium on Polycyclic Aromatic Compounds (PAC) will take place in Belgirate, Italy, on 19-22 September 1995. The event is being organized by the International Society for Polycyclic Compounds (ISPAC), the European Centre for the Validation of Alternative Methods (ECVAM) and the Environment Institute of the Commission's Joint Research Centre.

The symposium will examine the impact of polycyclic aromatic compounds on chemistry, biology and the environment. It will provide a multidisciplinary forum for the exchange of information among scientists working in the field of research on polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and related compounds. In particular, it will consist of plenary, parallel and poster sessions on the following topics:

- Sources and occurrences;
- Synthesis and structural investigations;
- Theoretical chemistry;
- Analytical chemistry;
- Standards and reference material;
- Biology and toxicology (carcinogenesis and mutagenesis);
- Ecotoxicology;
- DNA-adducts and biomarkers;
- Exposure assessment and risk assessment;
- Structure activity relationships.
