Twelfth Symposium on Microdosimetry
The symposium will take the form of an interdisciplinary meeting on radiation quality, molecular mechanisms, cellular effects and health consequences of low level ionizing radiation. It will provide a forum for presentation and discussion of the many recent advances in microdosimetry, as well as the rapid associated developments in radiation chemistry, molecular and cellular biology, oncology and epidemiology.
Programme topics will include:
- Radiation interactions with matter and energy deposition;
- Particle track structures in condensed media including water, DNA and protein;
- Chemical processes from radiation tracks to DNA and chromatin damage, both direct and indirect;
- Spectra of clustered molecular damage and dependence on radiation quality;
- Research approaches for extrapolations to low dose and to different radiation fields;
- Applications of microdosimetry in radiation protection for external and internal irradiations;
- Applications of microdosimetry to nuclear medicine.
Limited funds are available to assist young scientists with partial costs of attending the symposium.
