A workshop on the FASTDOC project will take place at Patras University, Greece, on 4-6 March 1996. FASTDOC is a European project, part-financed by the Commission within the framework of DG XIII's LIBRARIES programme.

FASTDOC aims at the development and testing of a prototype fast electronic document order and delivery system, based on an image archive of chemical literature used in the Frankfurt Beilstein Institute in Germany.

The project has now reached the alpha-testing phase with considerable success. All technical implications are solved and the partners are testing the consistency of the ordering system and the communications software.

The coordinator of the project is the Beilstein Institute. The other partners are the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, the Fachinformationszentrum Karlsruhe and the University of Patras.
