Third International Summer School on Advanced Broadband Communications
The following three fully interactive sites will host the summer school:
- University of Aveiro and DCID/CET, Aveiro, Portugal;
- Spain ETSI Telecommunications (UPM) and Telefonica I+D, Madrid, Spain;
- University of Naples and CRIAI, Naples, Italy.
ABC '95 will be a distributed event where the ISABEL multimedia computer supported cooperative work (CSCW) tele-training application will bring the lecture rooms at each of the sites together to form one virtual lecture room in which participants and lecturers can interact and work together.
Additional subsidiary sites with local audiences will also be part of ABC '95:
- University of Berne ASCOM, Berne, Switzerland;
- EU host, Brussels, Belgium;
- University of Chemnitz, Germany;
- KPN Research Laboratories, Leidschendam, the Netherlands;
- University of Linz, Austria;
- University of Newcastle, United Kingdom.
Links to sites will be realized by the new pan-European ATM network (PEAN), offering bandwidths from 2 to 34 Mbit/s.
ABC '95 will examine the following topics:
- Introduction to broadband communications;
- Access networks;
- Management of communications systems;
- Markets, services and applications;
- Advanced communications and future visions.
