The European "Integration in Manufacturing" (IiM) conference will take place this year on 13-15 September 1995, in Vienna, Austria.

This conference is a major dissemination event for this area of the EU Information Technologies Programme (ESPRIT) and has been an annual event (formerly under the title CIM-Europe Conference) since 1985. It is held in a different Member State each year. This year's conference is being organized jointly by DGIII/F.7 and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Arts.

European industrial enterprises, industrial associations, universities, research institutes and intermediaries, such as technology transfer centres, are invited to attend.

The conference, held under the theme: "Opening productive partnerships - concerted efforts for Europe", will include:

- An open forum for productive partnerships between European industrialists and researchers, including both information technology specialists and manufacturers; - Exchange of experiences, discussion and exploitation of results and exploration of opportunities for collaboration;
- Analysis of the impact of RTD results on productivity, competitiveness and employment in European industry; - Examination of the interplay between technological innovation, technology transfer and organizational and social issues;
The strategic location of Austria, close to Central and Eastern European countries, provides an additional opportunity for widening co-operative relations.

The Conference will be structured into plenary and parallel sessions. Plenary sessions will focus on keynote presentations from senior industrialists, academics and policy makers and on high profile demonstrations of technological developments. Parallel sessions will focus on technical/managerial papers and workshops. An exhibition of posters will also be on display during the Conference.

Conference topics will include:

- SMEs and technology transfer;
- Impact of the Information Society on working practices;
- Co-operative engineering;
- Engineering applications;
- Data capture;
- Quality;
- Robotics and control systems.

Keynote presentations will address the following topics:

- Technologies for the global information society;
- Impact of technologies on employment;
- Strategies for 21st century production in Europe;
- International cooperation in manufacturing;
- Advanced IT for the clothing industry;
- IT needs and trends for the process industry.
