Science and technology in rural areas: support for local development

A conference entitled " Science and technology in rural areas: support for local development" will take place in Montpellier, France, on 6-7 November 1995. It is being organized by GEIE Dynmed with the support of DG XII of the European Commission.

The conference will comprise of the following four workshops:

- "The perception of rural development in today's world";
- "RTD and rural development, from inside and from outside";
- "Rural development and communication technologies";
- "Science, technology and development - group synergies".

The results of a recently completed study on the RTD in the rural and island areas of the EU will be presented and discussed. The study contains information about fifty difference examples of regional development in which RTD has played an important role in the following countries:

- France;
- Portugal;
- Spain;
- Italy;
- Greece;
- Ireland;
- Scotland;
- Denmark.
