The Fourth European Conference on Solar Energy in Architecture and Urban Planning will be held in Berlin, Germany, on 26-29 March 1996. Sponsors include the European Commission and the German Federal Ministry for Regional Planning, Building and Urban Development.

The aim of the conference is to give a general overview of the latest developments in the area of solar technology and possible orientations for the future. It is aimed primarily at architects, building and specialized engineers, and urban planners.

Topics to be covered by the conference will include:

- Background, precedents and context;
- The role of renewable energies in European professional education;
- Passive and active systems and components;
- Intelligent control systems;
- Materials;
- Architectural concepts and completed buildings;
- Concepts for urban renewal and solar neighbourhoods.

The conference organizers are presently inviting papers in these main subject areas. Contributions should be submitted by the end of October 1995.
