The Third International Seminar on Statistical Confidentiality will be held in Bled, Slovenia, on 2-4 October 1996. The seminar is being organized by the Statistical Office of the European Communities (EUROSTAT), in collaboration, this year, with the Statistical Office of Slovenia and the International Statistical Institute.

The aim of the seminar will be to offer an international forum for the discussion of the latest problems and developments in the field of statistical confidentiality and the exchange of ideas and experiences on related topics. The programme of the seminar will focus on the following major topics:

- Legislative and administrative aspects of confidentiality;
- Inquiry techniques used to avoid disclosure of information on individual units;
- Mathematical and computing aspects of confidentiality;
- Organizational aspects of data protection;
- Public attitudes towards surveys in the countries in transition.

The seminar's programme committee is presently inviting proposals for contributions in any of the above areas. Proposals should be submitted to the committee, in the form of a one-page abstract in English, by the end of December 1995.
