The 1997 International Conference on Radiation Dosimetry and Safety will be held from 31 March to 2 April 1997 in Taipei, Taiwan.

The purpose of the conference, which is being organized by the National Tsing Hua University and the European Commission's Nuclear Fission Safety programme, is to promote radiation protection and peaceful applications of radiation. Participants will share their experience in radiation protection in the context of nuclear energy production, accelerators, industrial and medical radiation applications and research activities.

Papers will be presented on the following major scientific topics:

- Dosimetry;
- Instrumentation;
- Environmental issues;
- Radwastes;
- Radiation effects;
- Radiation protection;
- Standards.

Short courses will also be conducted, from 27 to 28 March, on radiation protection regulations, dosimetry, biological effects, instrumentation, emergency planning and interventions. An instrumentation exhibition will be open to participants.
