An international conference on "HPCN (high performance computing and networking) challenges in telecomp and telecom - Parallel simulation of complex systems and large-scale applications" will be held in Delft, The Netherlands, from 10-12 June 1996. The conference is being organized by the Dutch Benelux Simulation Society, on behalf of the Federation of European Simulation Science (EUROSIM).

Recent years have witnessed a major revolution in the three fields of measurement, computing and communication. In the measurement and control field, important new types of sensors are being developed, such as bio-sensors and micro-machine sensors and actors. New types of distributed and control processes are also being developed and computing and communication power are being added to existing instruments. Advances are being made in computing, artificial intelligence and simulation while rapid changes are affecting data, video and voice communications improvements. A super communication highway will be an important element in high performance computing and networking (HPCN).

The convergence of these technologies is creating tremendous opportunities and new kinds of products. Extended HPCN will necessitate much more sharing of information and resources amongst commercial organizations. The EUROSIM conference will aim to explain these new opportunities and cover the whole extended HPCN area in a way that will encourage cross-fertilization and generate new opportunities in all three fields.

A parallel computing contest will be held at the conference as well as a workshop on high-performance computing in environmental modelling. A commercial and scientific exhibition will also take place. The working language of the conference will be English.
