Application of life cycle assessment in agriculture, food and non-food agro-industry and forestry

An international conference on the "Application of life cycle assessment in agriculture, food and non-food agro-industry and forestry: Achievements and prospects" will be held in Brussels, Belgium, on 4-5 April 1996. The conference is being organized by the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO), in collaboration with the European Commission (DG XII).

The main objective of this two-day conference is to provide a forum for researchers working in the field of life-cycle assessment (LCA), and for producers and policy makers interested in the environmental impact of agricultural and forestry materials and products. An overview will be given of methodological issues and practical experiences with LCA in agriculture, food and non-food agro-industry and forestry. The perspectives of a broader and more common application of LCA in those areas will be outlined.
