The European Commission (DG XII) is organizing an advanced workshop in biotechnology entitled "Plasmid Stability - Horizontal Gene Transfer - Environmental implications". The workshop will take place in the University of Ioannina, Greece, from 1-12 July 1996.

Organized within the framework of the Community's specific RTD programme in the area of biotechnology (1994-1998), the workshop will consist of both lectures and lab assignments on a wide variety of relevant topics. At least half of the time will be devoted to practical work.

The workshop is open to nationals of the EU Member States and associated countries, selected by the European Commission and the University of Ioannina on the basis of their scientific curriculum. There are no course fees to be paid and a limited number of grants covering travel and accommodation costs will be made available. Attendance will be limited to +/- 20 participants.
