The European Commission, DG XIII, is organizing an information day on "The Multimedia Revolution: New Opportunities for Europe" to be held in Rome, Italy, on 22 March 1996. The information day is being organized in conjunction with the EDIMEDIA'96 electronic and multimedia publishing conference and exhibition, organized under the auspices of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Environment in the framework of initiatives for the Italian Presidency.

The objectives of the information day are:

- To inform interested market actors about developments that are taking place both at European Union level and, more specifically, in Italy in relation to the multimedia revolution;

- To present the Community's new INFO2000 programme which aims to boost employment in the emerging European multimedia content industry through stimulation of the recognition and exploitation of new business opportunities.
