The fifth European Forum of Competitive Technology, TEC'96, will take place in Grenoble, France, on 15-17 October 1996. The event, which is being organized by the Grenoble Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is expected to bring together 20,000 professional European visitors including: economic actors, research laboratories, major companies, SMEs working in high technology fields, and government bodies. The European Commission, DG XIII, will also be present.

The forum will provide an opportunity for participants to exchange information on new technologies and seek research partners. It should also promote technology transfer and the creation of strategic alliances. TEC'96 will cover the following sectors:

- New information, and communication technologies;
- Computerization: information super highway, multimedia, virtual reality, databases;
- Electronics: the latest advances in micro-electronics;
- Technologies in life sciences;
- New materials applications;
- Services to assist in the exploitation of new inventions and in technology transfer.

The CORDIS team will be present at the European Commission's DG XIII stand, and will demonstrate the nine online CORDIS services, the CD-ROM, the Watch-CORDIS Windows interface to the online services, and the CORDIS World Wide Web server.For further information, please contact:
