An international conference on Technology Transfer and Innovation, TTI'96, will be held in London, UK, on 1-3 July 1996. The conference, which is being supported by the European Commission (DG XIII), is directed at decision makers and practitioners involved in the exploitation of new ideas in industry, academia and government.

The aim of the conference is to encourage innovation in industry and commerce, particularly in SMEs, and to identify means of successful implementation by demonstrating good practices, examining models of effective continuing professional development, and highlighting developments in science and technology.

The programme will include sessions on the following subjects:

- Models and strategies for innovation in developing and transitional economies;
- Stimulating change in SMEs;
- Technology transfer across national boundaries;
- Life-long learning;
- EUNET: EU project to link national technology transfer and training schemes;
- Training for industry in the 21st century;
- Recognizing and accrediting work-based learning;
- Emerging technologies;
- Innovation and the supply chain;
- Advanced technology in small firms.

In addition to these sessions, there will be a number of keynote addresses, including:

- Policies for improving human resources in the European Community (Mr. H. Jones, DG V, European Commission);
- Exploiting outcomes from European RTD programmes (Mr. G. Grata, DG XIII, European Commission).
