An international workshop, entitled "Biomass - The energy source for Slovenia" will take place in Brdo, Slovenia, on 19 April 1996. The workshop is being organized by the Slovenian Energy Restructuring Agency with support from the European Community programme for the promotion of renewable energy sources (ALTENER).

The workshop aims to build upon the experiences, both of Slovenia and of other countries, in using wood biomass as a renewable energy resource, and to speed up the movement of the use of renewable energy sources to an operational level.

The programme includes sessions on the following topics:

- Stimulation of the use of wood biomass in Slovenia;
- Biomass energy potential and technologies;
- Wood biomass district heating (case studies both within and outside of Slovenia).
