Electronic tendering - the future of business with public authorities

A workshop on electronic tendering, entitled "Electronic tendering - the future of business with public authorities", will take place in Brussels, Belgium, on 18 April 1996. The workshop is being organized by ELPRO (Electronic Public Procurement System for Europe), a project selected for funding under the European Community's Telematics Applications programme, following the first call for proposals of 14 December 1994.
The workshop aims to provide an overview of the current state-of-the-art in electronic procurement activities worldwide and a presentation of the next generation of electronic procurement systems.
The ELPRO project, which commenced on 1 January 1996, aims to develop a European-wide public procurement system and a set of related services. Participants in the workshop will have an opportunity to influence future developments in this area, and to meet with European policy makers, information technology and telecommunications experts, and other users.
The workshop is aimed primarily at:
- Procurement managers and experts from purchasing departments in public administrations, hospitals and public service organizations;
- Senior managers from SMEs responsible for business development;
- Technical experts involved in preparing tenders.
