Two international conferences on technology policy and innovation will be held in the next two years, in Macao from 2 to 4 July 1997, and in Lisbon, Portugal, from 29 to 31 July 1998.

The purpose of these conferences is to analyse under multiple perspectives the science and technology system and its impact on economic and social development. Topics will include the management, assessment, commercialization and organization of science and technology, with special emphasis on knowledge integration. The three perspectives to be considered are:

- The business perspective;
- The public policy perspective;
- The academic perspective.

The Lisbon conference will focus in particular on the theme of science and technology for global sustainable development.

Those interested in presenting a paper at the conference in Macao in 1997 should note that the deadline for submitting abstracts is 14 February 1997.
