A conference entitled "The Information Society: New risks and opportunities in privacy" will be held in Brussels, Belgium, from 17 to 18 October 1996. It is organized by the University of Namur and sponsored by the European Commission and the European Parliament.
The conference aims to heighten awareness of the risks posed to privacy by digitalization. It will stress the benefits that will accrue to organizations which incorporate privacy into their data management procedures. It will examine the risks, opportunities and range of potential solutions for developing strategies to address issues of privacy for the citizen, consumer and employee.
